Our Manifesto for Healing

The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord—Job 1:21

In His wisdom and sovereignty, the Lord gave us Greyson. We rejoiced and blessed the name of the Lord as we celebrated his adoption.

In His wisdom and sovereignty, the Lord took Greyson. We will rejoice and bless the name of the Lord.

We do not understand the sovereignty of the Lord. His ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are above our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8). We will trust Him, even when we don’t understand.

We will not be defined as the parents who lost a child. We will be defined as the children of God who trusted the Lord on crushing days. To do this requires us to lay our grief at the feet of Jesus every day, sometimes every hour, occasionally every minute.

We will use difficult days as a reason to lean into God instead of running away from Him. We will trust the heart of the Lord when we can’t see His hand.

We accept that the death of Greyson has forever changed us. The normal life we had before the death of Greyson will never return. There will always be a void.

We acknowledge that God uses all things for His glory and wait in anticipation to see how He will turn this tragedy into our testimony.

We will choose to be thankful for the time the Lord gave us with Greyson instead of being angry for the time we no longer have with him.

We will let the Lord use our pain to minister to others walking through grief, hurt, and heartache. We will not allow others to hurt alone. We will point them to the Healer, Jesus.

The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.—Job 1:21

To God be the Glory.
